About the event

Description: 

A Learning Luncheon and social / networking event for Columbus therapists, hosted by Kaela Rae Vance LPCC-S, LLC, spotlighting featured co-presenters Beth Youngman, LISW-S and Katherine Bearer, LPCC-S. At this luncheon, Beth and Katherine, Central Ohio counselors, will be providing us with a presentation on "Safety in Relationships: An Introduction to Domestic Violence".

Itinerary, Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 11am-1pm:

  • 11am, Doors open.
  • Brief social time as people arrive.
  • Brief welcome and introduction.
  • Presentation: "Safety in Relationships: An Introduction to Domestic Violence"
  • Brief Q&A time with the presenters (Come prepared with a couple brief questions for the presenters!).
  • Lunch / Social / Networking time (Make sure to bring business cards!).
  • 1pm, Event conclusion.

About the Luncheon Co-Presenter - Beth Youngman, LISW-S:

Beth (they/them) is a queer, nonbinary therapist (LISW-S) offering individual teletherapy for adults in the state of Ohio in private practice, Growing Space Counseling & Wellness.  They practice from an anti-oppressive, trauma informed, LGBTQIA+ Affirming lens.  Beth often works with gender and sexual minorities, intersecting identities, immigrants and refugees, neurodivergent populations, people harmed by systems, people who have experienced harm in relationships, and people who have caused harm in relationships.  They often work with folks experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, complex trauma, dissociation, grief, and life transitions. Beth comes from 12+ years in agency social work practices advocating in areas including housing, immigrants and refugee rights, LGBTQIA2S+ advocacy, domestic violence survivors, sex trafficking survivors, and for folks who have experienced traumatic brain injuries.

About the Luncheon Co-Presenter - Katherine Bearer, LPCC-S:

Katherine Bearer, LPCC-S (she/her) has been a counselor for 5 years and is the co-owner of Growing Space Counseling & Wellness LLC. Katherine has spent the majority of her career working with survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) and is passionate about educating other therapists and community members about domestic violence. In addition to working with folks who have experienced IPV, Katherine also works with clients who have experienced sexual trauma and with individuals who have OCD, anxiety and depression. Katherine also identifies as a LGBTQ+ ally and integrates anti-oppressive practices in her work.

About the Luncheon Host - Kaela Rae Vance, LPCC-S:

Kaela is a Central Ohio Therapist whose clinical focus areas are grief and trauma. As a result, Kaela often sees patients also struggling with Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD. Kaela is trained in numerous modalities, including CTG, TF-CBT, and EMDR. Kaela honed her skills in grief and trauma counseling through her experience at the Family Support Program within Nationwide Children's Hospital Big Lots Behavioral Health Services as a Pediatric Trauma Therapist. Prior to her tenure at NCH, Kaela gained valuable experience at Columbus Springs, as an In-Patient Clinical Counselor. In spring of 2022, Kaela launched, and has since been steadily growing her private counseling practice in Dublin, Ohio.

  • A light snack and bottled water will be provided to attendees before the presentation.
  • Frank & Carl's will be provided to attendees after the presentation (you may make an entrée selection when you RSVP).

Please note, event space is limited. So please only register if you are committing to attend. Obviously things come up, so if you discover after registration that you're unable to be present, please email info@kaelaraevance.com so that we can release your spot to anyone else who would like to attend. Failing to let us know may result in you being unable to attend future events.

Registration Prerequisits:

Please note, RSVP is required for this event, we're unable to accomodate walk-in guests due to seating and catering limitations. Unless otherwise approved, attendance is contingent upon attendee being employed in the mental health field. If an registrant is found to not meet these prerequsits for this event, the registrant will be contacted and asked not to attend.
