About the event


A Learning Luncheon and social / networking event for owners of mental-health-related private practices, hosted by Kaela Rae Vance LPCC-S, LLC, spotlighting featured presenter Michelle Risser LISW-S. As a private practice owner herself, Kaela has personally felt the need for peer support related to launching a small startup counseling agency. As such, she wanted to tap into the experience and skills of peers with whom she has established professional relationships. Kaela intends to continue luncheons like these, to bring valuable information to the Central Ohio counseling cohort. At this luncheon, Michelle Risser will be providing us an introductory presentation on "Therapist Burnout"; which is an extremely important topic for counselors, specifically those who also carry the responsibility of managing their own private practice.

Itenerary, Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 11am-1pm:

  • 11am, Doors open.
  • Brief social time as people arrive.
  • Brief welcome and introduction.
  • Brief video overviewing presentation topic.
  • Presentation: "Therapist Burnout - Signs, Causes, & Self-Care Strategies"
  • Brief Q&A time with the presenter (Come prepared with a couple brief questions for the presenter!).
  • Lunch / Social / Networking time (Make sure to bring business cards!).
  • 1pm, Event conclusion.

About the Luncheon Presenter - Michelle Risser, LISW-S:

Michelle has been working in the field of mental health since 2003. Before opening her private practice in 2010, Michelle’s experiences included working as a psychiatrist’s assistant in a large counseling center, serving homeless teens in a transitional housing program, providing medical case management, drug and alcohol counseling and mental health therapy for persons living with HIV/ AIDS and as a hospital social worker with children and families at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Michelle’s clinical focus areas are maternal mental health, trauma, and EMDR Intensive therapy. Michelle also works as a coach/consultant helping other therapists and helping professionals diversify their income and overcome burnout.

About the Luncheon Host - Kaela Rae Vance, LPCC-S:

Kaela Vance is a Central Ohio Therapist whose clinical focus areas are grief and trauma. As a result, Kaela often sees patients also struggling with Anxiety, Depression, and PTSD. Kaela is trained in numerous modalities, including CTG, TF-CBT, and EMDR. Kaela honed her skills in grief and trauma counseling through her experience at the Family Support Program within Nationwide Children's Hospital Big Lots Behavioral Health Services as a Pediatric Trauma Therapist. Prior to her tenure at NCH, Kaela gained valuable experience at Columbus Springs, as an In-Patient Clinical Counselor. In spring of 2022, Kaela launched, and has since been steadily growing her private counseling practice in Dublin, Ohio.

Please note, unless otherwise approved, attendance is contingent upon attendee being employed in the mental health field and attendee pursuing or already owning a private practice. If an registrant is found to not meet these prerequsits for this event, the registrant will be contacted and asked not to attend. Future events are being organized for additional topics and be offered to a broader audiance.
